Top 5 Guitar Pedals of 2020

by | Feb 5, 2020

Here is my list of our “Top 5 Guitar Pedals for 2020”. This is my opinion and based on the limited number of Guitar Pedals I actually own so don’t get upset if you don’t see your favorite pedals on here as there are so many great guitar pedals to choose from.

The Guitar Pedals are in my effect chain order. So number 1 doesn’t mean it’s the best it means I plug into it first. The effects chain is the order in which we hook up the pedals, from the guitar we put the guitar cable into pedal A, then we connect Pedal A to Pedal B, then from Pedal B into the amplifier in that order.

1. MXR Cry Baby Mini Wah

  • Standard Pedal Size – fits on pedal board
  • Rugged Construction
  • Same great Cry Baby Tone
  • Get it on Amazon here.

2. MXR Phase 90 Script

  • Speed setting in the image is my setting. I like it very subtle but there are those times.
  • Rugged Construction
  • Great Analog Tone
  • Get it on Amazon.

3. MXR EVH 5150 Overdrive

  • Size of 2 standard pedals
  • Rugged Construction
  • Called an overdrive but it’s distortion
  • Very versatile. I can get Blues tones to 80’s Hair Metal easily.
  • Dial in the Amp then use the 3 band EQ on the pedal to adjust tones.
  • Built in Noise Gate
  • Get it on Amazon.

4. MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay

  • Standard Pedal Size
  • Rugged Construction
  • Settings in the image are my settings.Very subtle again but I can have it on all the time with these settings.
  • Amazing Analog tone.
  • Get it on Amazon.

5. TC Electronic Ditto Looper Mini

  • Mini Pedal -half the size of a standard pedal.
  • Rugged Construction
  • Easy to use out of the box. Larger looper pedals can have a learning curve. I like simple and this is as easy as it gets.
  • I put this last in the effect chain and it records all the guitar pedals before. For example if I have my EVH overdrive on it records the overdrive.
  • Im thinking about getting a 2nd Ditto looper to put first in my chain to record and playback clean signal.
  • Great to lay down some chords and practice over the loop.
  • Get it on Amazon.
